Part 5 - Wading into the River Styx
Dana floated in the inky darkness that surrounded her, something pulsed and throbbed around her. The darkness slowly faded to a deep violet, and the pain in her head started to match the pulses. It was then that she doubted reality and decided to really see, it was then that a door opened in her mind. It reminded her of a really bad Jack Daniels hangover, the memory flooded into her subconsciousness. She was lying on an inflatable couch at Shell's, wading out the last ripples of her trip. The body monsters were bad this time, as the acid had been mostly strychnine. Shell had handed her a bottle of Jack, and Dana had swallowed it in about 2 minutes flat. Properly fuckered up Dana passed out promptly, a long string of saliva running down her chin into her hair. When she awoke from the sleep of the dead she realised that maybe there really was a god, and right now he was mightily pissed off at her. The sky had opened up and bright white light had tattooed her brain with god's secret name, an experience not unlike having a set of jumper cables connected to your unmentionables and the engine cranked over. As Dana slowly started to shake off the dizziness of her concussion, she was able to make out her surroundings. The room she was in was small but neat with bright a light over her head, it smelled of antibiotic soap and disinfectant. Dana started to wonder if she was in the hospital, her head still hurt to much to move. So Dana drifted back into unconsciousness letting her body heal, letting the black void overtake her once more. |
